An Introduction to Me!
Hello there friends, enemies, and those still under review, My name is Bodie, and this is my website (obviously). I’m an aspiring author trying to get my name out there, and I thought a nice site to hold all my ideas, both present and future, would be an easy way to share what I’m about while trying to get my first YA manuscript written. So, first of all, let me share a bit about myself.
My name is Bodie, as I said before (Pronounced boh-dee). I’m currently 23 years old living in Texas. I’ve wanted to be a writer for a few years after discovering a passion for storytelling when writing short scripts for friends and helping them with their own projects. I’ve written many scripts and short stories, but only recently did I start to take things seriously and commit to being a real author. I conceptualized and finished a children’s book manuscript (see “Welcome to Brookhaven” on my portfolio page) as well as a horror short story called “Last Call for Eternity" which I’ll be sharing in a blog a little later. I’ll also be handing out some physical copies at the upcoming DFWCon 2026 with some beautiful cover art drawn by an illustrator and friend of mine T. Reddish.
In terms of what I want to write, my ideas seem quite varied. Maybe even random. Ranging from children’s picture books to gruesome adult mystery/horror, i don’t really want to tie myself down to anything in particular. Instead, I think the best way to explain the throughline between my ideas is character exploration. In every story I’m working on, the internal narrative of the characters is by far the most important part of the story. It won’t always be handed to the reader, but the importance of the characters’ minds will be evident for those who take the time to understand.
Additionally, I want to write these stories because they are stories I feel need to be told. Every character I make takes a part of myself and expands on it- both good and bad. I want these characters to have real, human struggles that maybe aren’t always resolved. I want these to reach out to people who are struggling with the same issues- maybe unknowingly- and hopefully show them what I want to say to them. My stories are for those who need them, or at least I hope they will be.
Well, I think that’s just about enough time on my high horse for now. I hope ya’ll enjoyed reading and I hope ya’ll take the time to check out the ideas and art I have posted on my site! I’m also always happy to hear from people, so feel free to reach out to me through my official Gmail, or through the built in message feature on the home and contact pages. Have a wonderful day, and I hope anyone who came here from my time at DFWCon had a wonderful time!
